Originally published: London: HarperCollins Entertainment, 2006. Interesting biography of Tommy Cooper, based mainly on his manager's records. In some points, it reads dry, but here and there John Fisher can bring Tommy to life and makes the biography interesting and touching. The thing I disliked more were the continuos references to other comedians and actors of Tommy's period, most of whom I know only superficially and other didn't know at all. This made some of the points raised by John Fisher lost on me and, I suspect, on all those from more recent generations.
