Marco's Comments:
From the Leslie C. Smith collection, lot 68, with his bookplate. "THE" David Devant book, containing the explanation of his illusions: the Mascot Moth, Biff, the Artist's Dream, the New Page Boy, etc. In good condition and with a cover over the dustjacket.. The book contains a part with Devant's tricks and another with tricks from other magicians. The tricks are not illustrated and explained in just the barest form, but they are all workable. Devant's illusions will need to be tried and the instructions followed precisely; the tricks of "his contemporaries" (among which Lewis Davenport's mutilated parasol) are somewhat better explained but only some are worth study.
